What is QTEDT?
QTEDT, or Queen's Themed Entertainment Development Team, is a student-led organization at Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada. We bring together students from diverse disciplines to design and develop innovative themed entertainment experiences.
Who can join QTEDT?
QTEDT is open to all undergraduate students at Queen’s University with a passion for themed entertainment, creativity, and innovation. Whether you’re studying engineering, computer science, business, or the arts, we value diverse skills and perspectives. We encourage you to apply!
How do I apply to join QTEDT?
To apply, simply visit our website and fill out the application form under the "Join Us" section. We typically look for individuals who are enthusiastic, motivated, and eager to work on team-based projects.
What kind of projects does QTEDT work on?
QTEDT works on a wide range of projects that combine technology, design, and storytelling. Some of our past projects include AI-driven systems for ride safety, interactive dark ride designs, and energy-efficient themed attractions. We also participate in industry competitions, such as the TMU Thrill Design Competition.
What skills and experience do I need to join?
We welcome students from all backgrounds and skill levels. You don’t need to be an expert—just be passionate and ready to learn! Skills in areas like coding (Python, C++, etc.), design (Maya, Blender, etc.), project management, or teamwork are highly valued. If you have previous experience in themed entertainment, robotics, or creative design, that's a bonus, but it’s not required.
How much time commitment is involved in QTEDT?
The time commitment varies depending on the projects and events you're involved in. On average, members dedicate around 2-3 hours per week to team meetings, project work, and other activities. We understand that academics come first, so we offer flexible involvement, allowing you to participate as much or as little as your schedule allows.
